The relationship between India and the United Arab Emirates will be a defining partnership for the twenty-first century. India's Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles, Shri Piyush Goyal, and Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, said yesterday that the country intends to become the world's largest startup ecosystem. Shri Goyal, speaking at the 'Gateway to Growth - Roundtable on Indian Startup Ecosystem' in Abu Dhabi, said, "We are currently the world's third-largest startup ecosystem, but our goal is to become the world's first startup destination. India has been bitten by the startup bug. India is being given a new direction and energy by the entire innovation ecosystem that the startup industry represents." Shri Goyal said, "India has one of the best startup ecosystems in the world, with a unique 'jugalbandi' or combination of investors and entrepreneurs to produce a balanced outcome and a win-win solution for everyone. I've witnessed a wonderful response from the Dubai Expo, where our firms were able to collect funds, sign memorandums of understanding, and receive angel investments. All of these factors will contribute to India's great friendship with the UAE." The Minister praised the India Innovation Hub platform, which is part of the India Pavilion, for promoting Indian entrepreneurs. "I sincerely hope that the 700 startups that showed their ingenuity at Expo2020 Dubai returned home with newer opportunities and ideas for the future. I am confident that this joint endeavour on innovation and future technologies between India and the UAE would propel business growth and give us wings as we move forward "the Minister concluded.
