Indore: All strict steps are being taken to check the rising crime in Madhya Pradesh. We all know that nowadays, young girls living in slums are victims of sexual crime. Indore is also on the same list where young girls living in slums fall prey to sexual offences. Indore police have now launched a new experiment of community policing to protect these girls from sex offenders and prevent other incidents against women. Under this experiment, a 40-member squad of women volunteers has been developed in the city which is becoming known as 'Special 40'. Additional Superintendent of Police Prashant Choubey gave this information last Sunday. "Young girls, especially in slums, are the target of addicts and criminals," he said. We want to protect women volunteers from falling prey to sexual offences with the help of a squad. At the same time, he also said, "Women volunteers in the age groups of 20 to 50 years have been included in the Special 40 squad and are being briefed on physical training as well as legal provisions related to crimes against women." He further informed that "the squad will gather intelligence as a police facilitator in the prevention of these crimes and will also be able to deploy it at festival events, fairs and other gatherings if required. We have also given special uniforms and walkie-talkies to the special 40 squad members." Not only that, the squad will go to slums and inform young girls about "good touch, bad touch" and teach them how to defend themselves during sexual assault.
