CHENNAI: two micro-industrial units in Coimbatore that were allegedly operating without a license have been sealed by the municipal corporation in TVS Nagar. The decision by the Tamil Nadu Local Bodies Ombudsman on an allegation that the units were harming the environment prompted the action. However, the unit owners claimed that no investigation was made by civic officials. Following accusations that the units were polluting the environment, the units were shut down. She also said that the units lack a permit from the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board. The Commissioner claimed that the corporation had given the units sufficient and additional time to fix their problems, but that they simply ignored the notification and did nothing, leading to the shutdown.
