PM reachs Mangaluru, lay foundation for multiple projects

MANGALURU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday reached  Mangaluru to inaugurate and lay the foundation for mechanization and industrialisation projects worth nearly Rs 3,800 crore, and address a mega event.

The Prime Minister was welcomed in the coastal city by Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister of Karnataka.
He is scheduled to embark to New Mangaluru Port Authority (NMPA) premises at Panambur by a chopper.


The PM will reach the Goldfinch city grounds here to take part in a public meeting after dedicating or laying the groundwork for numerous initiatives there.

PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for five projects totaling over Rs 1,000 crore that the port is undertaking, as well as launch a project valued at over Rs 280 crore that would mechanise Berth No. 14 for the handling of containers and other cargo

He will also dedicate two projects by Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) worth Rs 1,830 crore and Rs 680 crore, respectively: the BS VI Upgradation Project and Sea Water Desalination Plant.

In his earlier meeting in Kochi, the PM addressed a meeting of his BJP supporters before going to the Kalady village, close to the airport, to visit Sri Adi Shankara Janma Bhoomi Kshetram, the birthplace of Adi Shankaracharya.  He participated in the meeting of the core committee of the top state-level BJP leaders after the opening of the rail infrastructure projects.
