International flyers to undergo 7-day home quarantine on arrival in India

INDIA:  light of the mounting Covid cases and the Omicron threat, India changed its existing criteria for all international arrivals in India on Friday, making a seven-day home quarantine necessary.  The new rules will take effect on January 11 and will remain in place until further notice.

Travellers arriving in India from certain high-risk countries will be subjected to a seven-day home quarantine and an RT-PCR test on the eighth day, according to the rules. These travellers will be required to submit samples for the Covid-19 post-arrival test when they arrive (self-paid). Such passengers will be obliged to wait for the results of their tests at the destination airport before departing or connecting. If they test negative, they will be placed on home quarantine for 7 days and will be tested again on the 8th day of their arrival in India.

Travelers must additionally upload the results of a second RT-PCR test for Covid-19 performed on the eighth day to the Air Suvidha portal. If the results are negative, they will continue to evaluate their health for the next seven days.

All travellers should submit complete and accurate information in a self-declaration form on the online Air Suvidha site before their scheduled flight, including travel details from the previous 14 days, according to the requirements. They must submit a Covid-19 RT-PCR data that is negative. The test should have been completed within 72 hours of leaving for the trip.
