In a bid to facilitate swift and hassle-free transactions, Google Pay has unveiled its UPI LITE Payment feature. This innovative offering enables users to make small payments without the need for a PIN. UPI LITE guarantees faster payment processing, even during peak hours, boasting a significantly higher success rate than the conventional method. The key lies in its independent functionality, untethered from the user's linked bank account, which grants real-time access to the system. Seamlessly integrated within the app, users can effortlessly create their UPI LITE wallets and maintain a balance of up to Rs. 2,000. They have the flexibility to load their wallets twice a day, ensuring ample funds for various transactions. With UPI LITE, users can conveniently execute transactions of up to Rs. 200. Ambarish Kenghe, VP of Product Management at Google Pay, emphasized the significance of delivering unique features and use cases to propel the widespread adoption of digital payments. He stated, "Our goal is to simplify small-value transactions by providing users with a convenient, compact, and lightning-fast payment experience through the introduction of UPI LITE on our platform." The UPI LITE support feature was jointly launched by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in September 2022. Currently, it is bolstered by the collaboration of 15 banks. Notably, Paytm, PhonePe, and BHIM have already integrated the UPI LITE feature into their respective platforms. Activating UPI LITE on your Google Pay app is a breeze: Access your profile on the Google Pay app. Navigate to the setup payment methods section and choose UPI LITE. Proceed by adding balance. When making a payment, select UPI LITE as your preferred account. Experience the swiftness and convenience of UPI LITE as you embark on seamless digital transactions with Google Pay.
