The ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) will establish a Regional Academic Centre for Space at IIT-Varanasi to facilitate short and long term projects at the institute. Space research will also be studied and conducted by ISRO at IIT-BHU. For this, ISRO will establish its Regional Academic Center for Space (RAC-S) at IIT-BHU. A memorandum of understanding was also signed between IIT and ISRO on setting up the center. Under the online program, Professor Pramod Kumar Jain, Director of the Institute and CBPO Director Dr. PV Venkatakrishnan on behalf of ISRO, endorsed the agreement. After this agreement, short-term and one-year projects for BTech and MTech students will also be included in the institute. PhD students will be given preference in long term R&D projects. Besides, other programs like conferences, exhibition and short courses will also be organized to build the knowledge base in the field. Director Professor Jain informed that this Regional Academic Center of ISRO will act as a major facilitator to promote space technology activities in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh etc. IIT-BHU will act as an ambassador for ISRO, utilizing the experiences of experts for capacity building, awareness generation and research and research activities.
