ISSF World Cup: Chinki Yadav Wins Gold Medal in 25 Meter Pistol Competition

New Delhi: Chinki Yadav defeated gold medalist Manu Bhaker and veteran Rahi Sarnobat here on Wednesday to win the gold medal which helped India win all three medals in the women's 25m pistol event of the ISSF World Cup. This performance also infers the depth of talent in India's shooting. The 23-year-old Chinky beat Sarnobat 4-3 in the shoot-off due to a similar 32 points, taking India's Gold Medals to nine.

Nineteen-year-old Manu satisfied the Bronze medal with 28 points in the elimination stage at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, which was followed by a contest for the top spot between Chinki and Sarnobat. All three shooters have already received quotas for the Tokyo Olympics. Chinki won the Olympic quota by finishing second in the 14th Asian Championships in Doha in 2019. She was leading by 14 in the first 20 shots. After that Manu was second on 13 points. Then the Bhopal shooter took the lead over the others with a score of 21, after which the experienced battling Sarnobat also made a comeback.

In the finals, Chinky started with two right shots, but then twice (the second and sixth series of the elimination stage) five of the five targets were accurate. The most experienced of these three, Sarnobat scored all five marks in the third series of the first phase, followed by four goals in the fourth, seventh and ninth series in the elimination.
