Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police have seized properties worth Rs 50 lakhs belonging to a drug peddler in Baramulla, officials said on Thursday. The accused has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Sogi, a resident of Mazhama in the Magam area of Budgam district. The action was taken based on a case under 68-E read with 68-F (1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS), linked with a case under sections 8/20, 22 & 29 of the NDPS Act of Kunzer police station. According to Baramulla police, the seized properties include nine marlas of land and a double-story residential house. These properties were identified as illegally acquired during the course of the investigation/enquiry conducted by the police. The police have urged community members to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighborhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per the law.
