Srinagar: Some youths pelted stones at the security forces in Srinagar after the quantum of punishment was announced for terrorist Yasin Malik from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Of these, 10 people have been arrested by the police so far. These people, who were throwing stones till yesterday, are now seen holding their ears in the police station and apologizing for their actions. Srinagar Police said that so far 10 people have been arrested for allegedly shouting anti-national slogans and pelting stones outside Yasin Malik's house. Police said there were violent protests in Malik's locality Maisuma after he was sentenced in Delhi. However, the situation in other areas was peaceful. Police said some more people could also be arrested. The Srinagar police said that the other accused are also being identified and they will be arrested soon. Police said a case has been registered under sections of IPC and UAPA. Along with this, a case will be registered under the Public Safety Act against the main accused who instigated the violence. Soon after the announcement of the sentence to Yasin Malik, there was stone pelting outside his house in Srinagar. But the police acted promptly and chased away the miscreants.
