Jaunpur: A major accident took place near Srikrishna Nagar railway station in the Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday morning. 21 bogies of goods train travelling from Sultanpur to Mughalsarai near Udpur Ghatampur overturned, causing jam on Jaunpur-Varanasi rail route. Route trains have been parked from place to place. There was chaos on the spot after the accident. Many trains had to be stopped wherever they were. According to the report, the goods train left Sultanpur at 06:58 am to fetch coal from Mughalsarai. There were 59 bogies in the goods train. The goods train had reached near Udpur Ghatampur at 07:58 am after crossing the Srikrishna Nagar railway crossing. Meanwhile, suddenly some of the train bogies got off the track. PWI Jaunpur Brijesh Yadav said that the accident occurred due to a wheel jam of a compartment of a box of Baksan goods train from Sultanpur to Mughalsarai. As the goods train moved to change the track on the outer ahead of Srikrishna Nagar station, its compartment suddenly overturned. The train operations on the Varanasi-Lucknow by Jafrabad railway line have come to a standstill due to the accident. The incident has been reported to the higher authorities of Lucknow Division of Northern Railway. Local railway officials have rushed to the spot. Meanwhile, the cause of the accident is said to be a broken track. According to reports, the track was broken, causing the wagons of the goods train to overturn. However, officials say the case is under investigation. Action will be taken if negligence is found. Meanwhile, the work of clearing the track has also been started. Soon the track will be repaired and trains will be started running.
