Ranchi: The bodies of a woman and a one-and-a-half-year-old boy were found in a well in Gadar village under the Gawan police station area of Giridih district of Jharkhand. The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Punia Devi husband Raju Yadav, a resident of Gadar. People have told that on Wednesday, there was a dispute between husband and wife over lifting cow dung. The woman then went missing with the child at night. On Friday, the woman and the child were reported missing at the Gawan police station. The family was searching for the two in the surrounding areas. On Monday, when people saw the smell rising in the well, it was found that there was a corpse in it. On seeing this, a crowd of people gathered on the spot. On being informed about the incident, police inspector Sahdev Prasad, and station house officer Pintu Kumar reached the spot and took possession of the body. The woman's maternal home is in Khirod village under the Teesri police station area. The woman has three daughters and a one-and-a-half-year-old son. One daughter is married. The body of the woman along with her one-and-a-half-year-old son was also recovered from the well. The body was completely decomposed and a foul smell emanated from it. On being informed about the incident, the woman's brother and daughter and others reached the spot. The atmosphere became very inconsolable with the family's screams. Gopal Yadav, a resident of Khirod, brother of the deceased, said his sister was being tortured after marriage. She was constantly assaulted. The SHO said the body has been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem and an investigation is underway.
