Three arrested in Shivamogga stabbing case in Karnataka

Karnataka: Three persons have reportedly been arrested for allegedly stabbing a youth near Gandhi Bazar location of Shivamogga (Karnataka) on August 15, officials said on Tuesday.

Four suspects have been identified, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Alok Kumar said,  adding that a case has been filed under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code in connection with the knife assault.

Prem Singh, a twenty-year-old inhabitant of Shivamogga, was stabbed by criminals yesterday outside Gandhi Bazar's vegetable market, said the Doddpet Police Station in Shivamogga Town, The criminals fled the scene, it  is said. In the hours after the incident, the first suspect was taken into custody.

Nadeem Rehman and Abdul Rehman, who are accused of stabbing Prem Singh, age 20, have been identified as the two people that were arrested, according to the police.

Inspector Manjunath S. Kuri of the Vinob Nagar police station later tried to apprehend accused Mohammed Jabi alias Charbi, 30, who had attacked the police with a knife during a search operation for the other accused on Tuesday morning.

The police officer shot Jabi in the leg with a service pistol so as to protect himself and his staff. The injured accused was taken to Megan Hospital for medical treatment and a case Section 353 and 307 of the IPC has been registered in Doddpet police station.
