VARANASI: Four persons, including a doctor, have been charged with the death of a 22-year-old rape victim who underwent a forced abortion. The woman died on August 12 while undergoing a forced abortion.
The official claimed that the woman met the driver while she was reportedly raped while living at her uncle's house for her studies.
On the pretext of giving her medicine, the accused allegedly drove the woman to a private hospital for an abortion after five months of pregnancy.
"She was a first-year college student who had dated the defendant. The victim's uncle said that the young man had raped her and caused her to become pregnant "police reported.
The woman allegedly left her home on August 12 on the pretext of visiting a cousin who lived in a nearby village, according to the woman's family. She ran into the suspect en route, and he drove her to a Varanasi private hospital.
"Due to difficulties during the treatment, the accused took the victim to a different private hospital in Varanasi. The woman allegedly passed while having an abortion at the second facility, "a senior police officer claimed.
The accused allegedly attempted to conceal the victim's body but were caught. The body was sent for an autopsy after the police were notified.
The officer said, "The autopsy report revealed that the fatality occurred due to shock and hemorrhage."
