Ranchi: The case of brutal torture of a maid has come to light from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. The victim belongs to the tribal society. The accused woman Seema Patra is the wife of former IAS officer Maheshwar Patra. She is also active in politics. She was a member of Congress after joining BJP. The victim maid has been identified as Sunita. According to the report, the maid was kept hostage in Patra's house located in Argora police station area of Ranchi. She was harassed continuously. It is being told that Vivek Baski, an officer of the Personnel Department of the Government of Jharkhand, had received the news of Sunita being hostage. He informed the Ranchi Police. After this, on 22 August 2022, Sunita was freed. No one has been arrested so far in this case. According to the report, about ten years ago Sunita was brought to Patra's house to work. He was later sent to the national capital, Delhi, where Patra's daughter Vatsala lived. After her transfer from Delhi, Sunita came back to Ranchi Patra's house. Here she was beaten up. When she asked permission to go home, she was locked in a room. Sunita's body is full of injuries. She was being harassed every day. The victim's body was also burnt several times with a hot pan. She was also reportedly forced to clean the defecation with her tongue. It is being told that three or four teeth have also been broken due to beating with an iron rod. The situation is such that neither she is able to stand on her own nor is she able to speak properly. Presently the treatment of the victim is going on at RIMS Hospital in Ranchi. According to the report, Seema Patra's son Ayushmann had several times opposed the assault on Sunita. During this, he also used to argue with his own mother.
