Jharkhand government's big announcement, 'Poor people will get dhoti and saree in just Rs. 10'

Ranchi: Jharkhand's Hemant Soren government on Friday announced twice a year dhoti/lungi and saree for 10 rupees to all BPL families in the state. A decision to this effect has been taken at a meeting of the State Cabinet held here on Friday under the leadership of CM Hemant Soren.

The Chief Minister's Office has informed about the cabinet decision that the state government will distribute a dhoti/lungi and one saree at a price of Rs. 10 per family/ per household at an interval of six months and once in the financial year 2020-21 to all eligible household and AAY beneficiary families of the state covered by the National Food Security Act under the 'Sona Sobaran Dhoti Saree Distribution Scheme'. The state's ruling party JMM had also promised to give dhoti/saree to the people in its manifesto in the assembly elections.

In another proposal, a proposal to borrow Rs 97 crore from NABARD for 58 rural road projects of the diocese has been approved. In another proposal, it was approved on a proposal to exempt the sale of liquor from BSF Cantin at Meru in Hazaribagh from VAT.
