Patna: Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is serving a jail sentence in the Chaibasa case related to the fodder scam, has been granted bail. The Jharkhand High Court has approved the bail of Lalu Prasad Yadav in the case of illegal withdrawal from the Chaibasa treasury. But, he will not be released yet. However, until the hearing of the Dumka Treasury case related to the fodder scam is completed, Lalu Prasad Yadav will not be able to come out of jail. The bail plea of RJD supremo and former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad was heard in the Jharkhand High Court on Friday. Actually, Lalu Prasad has been sentenced to five years by Ranchi's CBI court in the case of illegal withdrawal from Chaibasa treasury linked to the fodder scam. Lalu had said in his bail plea that he had cut half of his sentence in this case. On this basis, he should be granted bail. Earlier on September 11, Lalu's bail plea was opposed by the CBI during the hearing. The CBI while filing the reply had said that Lalu has been convicted in four cases. All the punishments are going on separately. All the sentences will run separately until ordered by the respective court to run all the sentences together. All can be granted bail only after serving half the sentence. Let us tell you that Lalu Prasad filed a bail petition in the month of July. It also cited his deteriorating health. The bail plea has made the premise that Lalu Prasad Yadav has completed half the term of punishment by the CBI court in the case of illegal evacuation from Chaibasa treasury and Lalu Prasad Yadav is currently battling more than half a dozen serious incurable diseases. Therefore, he should be given bail.
