The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) government on Friday announced winter vacations from December 21 in all schools up to Class 12 in the valley and in winter zone areas of the Jammu division. As per an order issued by School Education Department Secretary B K Singh, winter vacation for all government educational institutions and recognized private schools up to the higher secondary level in the Kashmir division and in winter zone areas of Jammu division will be from December 21 to February 28. “ It is hereby ordered that all the Government Educational Institutions including recognized Private Schools upto Higher Secondary Level functioning in the Kashmir Division and winter zone of Jammu Division shall observe winter vacation with effect from 21 of December 2020 to 28 of February 2021,” reads the order, a copy of which lies with GNS. However, winter tutorials for class-11 to 12 and online classes for all classes shall be held by strictly adhering the SOPs of Covid-19 issued by the Government from time to time. “Any default on part of the Head of the School(s) in observance of the calendar and SOPs of Covid-19 shall attract strict action under rules,” the order added.
