Karnataka CM Bommai calls meeting on Covid situation

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai called a meeting on Saturday evening to review the situation that has arisen as a result of an increase in Covid-19 cases in Bengaluru and Dharwad, as well as the impact of the new strain of the virus. At 4 p.m., a conference will be held to discuss if the virus is spreading from Kerala, which is seeing an increase in Covid cases, as well as preventative measures.

Bommai noted that authorities from the Department of Health, the Disaster Management and Advisory Board on Covid-19, as well as experts, will convene to consider the next steps. He urged the people to join the Health Department in taking efforts to prevent the dangerous illness from spreading.

K. Sudhakar, the Minister of Health, declared that the new virus should not be a cause for alarm. New rules will be issued, and airports will conduct Covid testing, with individuals who test positive being quarantined. After a week, they will be submitted to another test, he added.

The Chief Minister noted that the symptoms of the new Covid strain Omicron are similar to those of previous strains. It'll be interesting to see if it's more dangerous than the Delta variant. Sudhakar stated that steps had been taken to supply essential drugs to hospitals, and that sufficient stock will be maintained.
