Bengaluru: A 67-year-old resident in Bengaluru, Karnataka, has been given a compensation of fifty-five thousand rupees by the Post office department. After a legal battle of six years, the Postal Department has agreed to give this compensation. This compensation has been given for the loss of 1 letter from the Postal Department, in which there were 2 original mark sheets of the children of the said person. In this case, a local court of Karnataka has ordered compensation under the Post Office Act-1898. L. L. living in Koramangala area of Bengaluru. Jayakumar sent 1 letter from Bengaluru to Mumbai in June 2013. However, when this letter did not reach Mumbai, he requested the Post Master of Koramangala. On August 7, 2013, the Postal Deposit gave an answer saying that his letter has been mistakenly sent to the address of Electronic City of Bengaluru. After all the efforts, when the letter and the documents sent with it were not found, the department closed the case. After this Jayakumar took refuge in the court. The postal department gave various arguments in the court, on which Jayakumar gave a reference to the past few cases and demanded compensation from the department. After six years of legal action in the case, the court gave a decision in favour of the complainant Jayakumar. Under the rules of the Post Office Act-1988, the court issued an order on June 24, 2020, to Jaikumar for compensation of twenty-five thousand rupees and five thousand rupees as court expenses.
