Bangalore: A case of suspected honour killing has come to light at Saladahalli in Vijayapura district of Karnataka last Tuesday. Villagers have recovered the bodies of 19-year-old Dalit youth Basavaraj Badigeri and Takriban, a 16-year-old Muslim minor girl. They then informed the police. According to media reports, the ends of the two were badly crushed with stones. There were blood marks around and the body was also lying there. The villagers told police that both were from different religions and their families were against their relationship. According to villagers, either of the two families was involved in the killings. A case has been registered at Kalkeri police station in this regard. Preliminary investigation by the police has also revealed that the case pertains to honour killing. Karnataka Police initially found that the Muslim girl's family members, her father, her brother Jan and two relatives have been absconding since the bodies of the duo were found. In such a situation, the crime may have been committed by them. A video has also surfaced on social media regarding the case. One user shared the video claiming that according to FIR, the two were tied to their hands and killed with stones and sticks. However, no arrests have been made in the case so far.
