Karnataka has issued an alert in the neighbouring districts of Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada following the detection of 13 norovirus cases in Kerala. The Karnataka Health Department has released guidelines through a circular to be followed. It directed that a physician be appointed as a nodal officer for each district to handle the case. Officers from the district's Department of Health and Family Welfare have also been invited to assist. Contaminated food and water are the sources of the virus. The virus causes vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea, stomach discomfort, headache, bodily pain, and fever in those who are infected, according to the report. It will be necessary to admit the patients to the hospital. It stated that if it is not addressed, it will turn fatal. Officials from the health department have been tasked with gathering information and testing sources of drinking water. The infection has no specific treatment, and the patient must be treated for symptoms. In late October, an unusual norovirus was discovered in 13 students at a veterinary college in Pookode, Kerala's Wayanad district. Kerala's government has issued a high-level alert to the state's residents. The norovirus, sometimes known as the 'winter vomiting bug,' is extremely contagious and readily spreads among people.
