Thiruvananthapuram: Another deadly virus has now entered Kerala amid coronavirus cases. The virus is said to be Norovirus. According to the Kerala government, the virus infection can be cured soon by treatment. On Friday, a day after the Norovirus cases were confirmed in Wayanad district, the state government said people need to be vigilant against the infectious virus. The person suffering from its infection is said to have vomiting and diarrhoea.

Health Minister Veena George said that proper prevention and treatment can cure the disease quickly. She said that there is no need to be afraid of it, but everyone should know about the disease and its prevention measures. She explained that a Norovirus is a group of viruses that cause gastrointestinal disease. Although Norovirus does not affect healthy people too much, it can be serious in the case of young children, the elderly and people suffering from any other disease.

Two weeks ago, about 13 students of a veterinary college in Pukode, near Vithiri in Wayanad district, were diagnosed with this rare Norovirus infection. At present, the situation is under control and no further spread is reported.
