Bengaluru: Karnataka announced 149 new cases of the Omicron coronavirus on Tuesday, bringing the total number of Omicron cases in the state to 226. In a tweet, state Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar said, "149 additional Omicron cases have been confirmed today, bringing the total number in Karnataka to 226." Meanwhile, the state health department in Karnataka recorded 2,479 new COVID-19 cases, 288 recoveries, and four fatalities in the last 24 hours. There are 13,532 active cases in the state. Karnataka's state government imposed new COVID-19 restrictions on Tuesday, citing an increase in COVID-19 cases. For the next two weeks, a weekend curfew will be enforced in the state from Friday 10:00 p.m. to Monday 5:00 a.m., according to the new standards. The state's pubs, clubs, restaurants, bars, hotels, cinema halls, multiplexes, theatres, and auditoriums shall all have a 50% seating capacity. Meanwhile, Telangana also reported 1,052 new Covid-19 infections and 10 new Omicron infections on Tuesday. There were 659 new Covid cases in Greater Hyderabad alone, with 116 and 109 cases in the neighbouring districts of Medchal Malkajgiri and Rangareddy, respectively.
