Kochi: Three fishermen drowned when a boat capsized during tidal waves at a mouth near Nellikunnu port (Nellikunnu Harbour) in Kasargod district (Kasaragod) of Kerala. The coastal police have confirmed this. The police said a search operation was on to trace the missing persons but their bodies were found floating here on Monday morning at Kodi Beach. Coastal police said the bodies have been sent to hospital for postmortem. Police said the deceased have been identified as Rathish (44), Karthik (20) and Sandeep (36). According to police, the fishermen's boat capsized on Sunday due to strong waves. Police said that though a total of seven people were present in the boat, four of them were holding the sinking boat and were rescued by other fishermen. Police said the rescued people suffered only minor injuries and have been admitted to a nearby government hospital. He said the Search Operation was conducted by the Indian Coast Guard, coastal police and locals. A similar incident took place in Jagatsinghpur in Odisha due to cyclone Yaas, where 10 people were rescued by the district administration and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) after a boat capsized.
