Kerala actress assault case: High Court dismisses actor Dileep's plea

Cochin: Malayalam actor Dileep's petition to nullify the FIR filed by the Kerala Police Crime Branch against him for murder plot in connection with the 2017 actress assault case was dismissed by the Kerala High Court.

The plea was denied by a single bench of Justice Ziyad Rahman AA. The case involves actor Dileep allegedly plotting to assassinate the officials investigating the Actress Assault Case.

On January 9, the Crime Branch filed a complaint against Dileep and five others. Following the release of audio clips in which Dileep and others reportedly intimidated the investigating officers, the complaint was filed. Balachandra Kumar, a film director, has also spoken out against Dileep in this case. Sections 116 (abetment), 118 (concealing design to commit offence), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code were used in conjunction with Section 34 (common intention) to file the complaint (IPC).

Balachandra Kumar had made a series of claims against Dileep in connection with the matter earlier in November. He had exchanged audio recordings, which sparked new suspicions in the Dileep case.

On the night of February 17, 2017, the actress, who performed in Tamil and Telugu films, was allegedly kidnapped and abused inside her car by a group of guys who forced their way into the vehicle.
