Kerala CM Orders High-Level Investigation into Serious Allegations Against Senior Police Officers

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced a top-level investigation into severe allegations made by ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) MLA P.V. Anvar against several senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in the state.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the government will treat these allegations with the highest seriousness and will not tolerate any disciplinary breaches within the police force. He assured that every issue would be evaluated based on its merits, regardless of its source.

Vijayan made these comments during a police association event, stating that a senior officer would lead the investigation into the allegations, though he did not specify whether these were related to Anvar's claims.

This decision follows accusations from Nilambur MLA Anvar, who alleged that Chief Minister Vijayan’s political secretary P.S. Sasi and Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Ajith Kumar had committed serious breaches of trust. Anvar claimed Kumar was involved in illegal activities, including wiretapping ministers' phone calls, having connections with gold smuggling rings, and engaging in criminal activities.

Anvar also accused Pathanamthitta Superintendent of Police Sujith Das of serious misconduct. The allegations against high-ranking officials in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and the top police leadership have sparked intense political reactions.

Opposition parties have demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Vijayan, labeling Anvar’s charges as "extremely serious" and "concerning." The Congress party has called for a thorough investigation into the alleged wrongdoing within the CMO, while the BJP has urged the Chief Minister to address the MLA's accusations.
