The world's first marine cemetery (sea cemetery) has been built with plastic bottles at Kozhikode in Kerala to make people aware. Single-use plastic has been used to make it.

According to media reports, this cemetery has been built on the Bayor coast of Kozhikode by Jellyfish Watersports with the help of 'Clean Beach Mission and Beypore Port Department' of the district administration. Made of single-use plastic bottles, the structure pays homage to the 8 extinct marine species, including seahorse, foot fish, leatherback turtles, eagle ridge, sawfish, dugongs, zebra sharks, hammerhead fish and endemic freshwater fish of Kerala, called Miss Kerala.

In his statement, Kozhikode Port Officer Captain Ashwini Pratap said that this is a symbolic reminder to spread awareness initiative to make people aware, it tells us that many species of fish will extinct if we constantly throw plastic into rivers and seas.
