Kochi: Kerala Police has busted a major racket being run to exchange wives in the state. Groups were reportedly formed on WhatsApp and Messenger, involving about 1,000 high profile people. Police have arrested 7 people involved in the Husband Wife Exchange Racket from Kottayam. Meanwhile, more than 25 people are under police surveillance. In fact, the arrests come after a woman lodged a police complaint against her husband that he was pressuring her to have sex (Sexual Relation) with other men. Earlier, a similar case was reported from Kayamkulam. In this case, Changancherry Deputy SP R Srikumar said, 'At first the accused used to join Telegram and Messenger groups and then meet each other. We have arrested the husband of the woman who complained. There is a big racket behind it and we are looking for the rest of the accused in the case.' The arrested people are residents of Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam in Kerala. Police have confirmed that several high profile people in the province are part of the racket. So far seven people have been caught while police are keeping an eye on more than 25 people. There may be more arrests in the coming days. The racket is estimated to have more than 1000 members in the WhatsApp group and messenger group.
