Kerala schools reopen today despite Covid fears

Thiruvandandpuram: After a 20-month hiatus, Kerala's schools will reopen on Monday, November 1. The state education department will hold 'Pravesanolsavam' celebrations to welcome students back to school in a big way, but fears are high because the number of Covid cases hasn't decreased. V. Sivankutty, the state minister for general education, told the media that all schools in the state would welcome students with Covid-19-style celebrations. However, with 7,427 new Covid19 cases and 358 deaths reported in the state on Saturday, the likelihood of a large number of pupils avoiding offline lessons seems considerable. Many parents have reservations about sending their children to school.

It is said that more than 2,000 teachers have failed to receive the Covid immunisation. With schools in Kerala reopening on November 1, including primary schools, there are still 2,282 teachers who have not been vaccinated. While many teachers have cited allergies and other physical illnesses as reasons for not getting the vaccKerala schools reopen today despite Covid fears.

Teachers who have not received immunizations are not required to attend school, according to Education Minister V. Sivankutty. He stated that such teachers should avoid attending offline classes and instead focus on online instruction.
