Puducherry: After the resignation of Congress MLAs in Puducherry in recent days, the Narayanasamy government there has come in a minority. It seems that the political drama of the Union Territory will continue till the assembly elections in April. Now the central government has removed Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi from her post. In her place, Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has been given additional charge of Puducherry. Tamilisai was earlier the president of the Tamil Nadu BJP unit. After this notification of Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday night, events started to change rapidly. Rashtrapati Bhavan has said that Tamil Nadu Soundararajan will continue to hold the additional charges until the next appointment as the Deputy Governor of Puducherry. Some leaders of a BJP unit also objected to the functioning of Kiran Bedi. Kiran Bedi was appointed as the Lieutenant Governor in May 2016, in which only 3 months were left for the completion of her term. The Congress had consistently spread in Puducherry that the people are angry with the work of Kiran Bedi and they dominate the elected government. The local BJP unit had sent a petition to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda 3 times seeking the removal of Kiran Bedi.
