Wicket-keeper and batsman KL Rahul has said that Mahi's retirement was shocking, as all the teammates wanted to bid farewell to the former captain with due respect. Mahi announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, putting an end to his 16-year-long career. Rahul told, 'It was quite shocking. I was honest when I was heartbroken. I trust that all of us who have played with him, all wanted to bid him farewell with respect. I wanted him to play now. We could have a chance to do something special for him.' He said that Dhoni is such a person who has guided us in the true sense. He is the kind of player who never told us to change. He gave us an opportunity to express ourselves. He taught us how to learn from our mistakes. He is always involved to answer our questions. Earlier, Rahul had posted a post for Mahi from his social media account. He wrote, 'Words fall short. Thank you, dear brother, for your patience, your guidance and continued support. You are always going to be an inspiration and that is the reason why many of us believe in our dreams'. It is noteworthy that Mahi had suddenly announced his retirement from international cricket on the evening of 15 August. Dhoni shared a video on Instagram with the song 'Main Pal Do Pal Ka Shayar Hoon'. While sharing this video, Dhoni wrote, 'Thank you for your love and support so far.
