Koo App launches 'Spiritual Journey to India' campaign, seeks to digitally connect temples and devotees

New Delhi: Made-in-India social media platform Koo App has launched the 'India Spiritual Journey' i.e. Spiritual Journey of India. It is an initiative to enable devotees to digitally connect with the temples and spiritual centres of India. The first phase of this journey will cover a distance of 4000 km and will bring the major temples and spiritual centres of Uttarakhand digitally closer to the devotees. This is the first time that this initiative of its kind has been taken by any social media platform in India. Due to the lockdown imposed during the pandemic in the last two years and the temporary closure of temples, e-darshan on social media has seen a tremendous boom. With spirituality and related topics being one of the most searched topics on the internet, the campaign will empower spiritual gurus and temple trusts to connect with devotees across India, give updates and connect with followers in their native language in real time.

Under this campaign, biking enthusiasts and an employee of the Koo App, Prateek Khedkar will cover a distance of 4,000 km from Madhya Pradesh to Uttarakhand. Prateek is associated with the operation team of the Koo App and will visit the major pilgrimage sites of this Himalayan state including Haridwar, Rishikesh, Uttarkashi, Gangotri, Yamunotri and Badrinath. His visit will end at Gaurikund, which is the base camp of the Kedarnath trek. The campaign has received support from Uttarakhand Tourism and aims to help temple trusts and spiritual centres across the state to use the revolution of social media that is transforming the current world. The 'India Spiritual Journey' will be gradually extended to pilgrimage centres across India.

Riding his bike in these areas, Prateek Khedkar, operations manager of Koo, said, "I am grateful to the Koo app for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this campaign. 'India Spiritual Journey' has helped me rediscover myself and has connected me to millions of Indians who are spiritual. Through this campaign, our goal is to reach this experience to millions of users of the Koo app. Travelling in some of India's most deserted areas amidst the majestic snow-capped mountains, cedar forests and visiting ancient temples is nothing short of a divine experience.''

There are over 100 verified spiritual accounts on the platform of the Koo App, including prominent gurus like Swami Avdheshanand Giri, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, and Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. The last quarter has seen a significant 50 per cent rise in spirituality-linked accounts on the platform. Spiritual gurus actively discuss and post Koo with their followers in local languages by taking advantage of the unique multilingual feature of the platform. The feature facilitates the real-time translation of messages into different languages currently available on the platform, thereby increasing its reach. Chat rooms and live features help increase digital engagement between temples and devotees. More than 47 per cent of spiritual accounts on the Koo app have more followers than any other micro-blogging platform in India.

A spokesperson for Koo said, "As a land rich in ancient cultures and traditions, India is home to centuries-old temples where devotees want peace. With this campaign, our aim is to create a spiritual social network where serious discussions are heard. Being 'digitally available' through social media, temples and spiritual centres can now easily connect and discuss with devotees. Over time the Koo app has developed a strong spiritual community where users can express and share their thoughts through photos, videos, and text related to spirituality or give motivational sentences. As a multilingual platform democratising India's voice, we are excited to embark on 'India's Spiritual Journey' and we are confident that this campaign will go a long way in enabling both temples and devotees to participate in the digital transformation that has given the world a new shape."
