Last Chance for Airtel and Reliance Jio Users to Beat Tariff Hike

Airtel and Reliance Jio customers have less than 24 hours to take advantage of a loophole that allows them to avoid upcoming tariff increases. Both telecom giants are set to raise prices starting July 3, 2024. Prepaid users can queue up to 50 recharges in advance, locking in current rates and saving on long-term plans. However, postpaid users won't be able to dodge the hike.

Reliance Jio's price adjustments will see hikes ranging from 12% to 25%, while Airtel's increases will be between 11% and 21%. For instance, Jio's popular Rs 239 monthly plan with 1.5GB daily data will surge to Rs 299, marking a 25% increase. Annual data packs could cost up to Rs 600 more across both providers.

Customers can secure current prices by scheduling prepaid recharges before July 3, even if the specific plan is discontinued or revised later. This opportunity is particularly advantageous for those opting for extended validity plans.

To benefit from this, Jio and Airtel subscribers simply need to recharge with their desired denomination before the deadline. For Airtel users, recharges must align with their current plan to be queued. Opting for a different amount will activate a new plan immediately, resulting in dual active plans.

Notably, Vodafone Idea subscribers do not have the option to queue recharges. If multiple recharges are made, all plans will commence simultaneously.

Jio subscribers can queue up to 50 recharges, whether monthly or yearly. Airtel has not disclosed specific limits for queuing recharges.

While Airtel's unlimited 5G data offer remains unchanged, Reliance Jio now requires subscribers to opt for 2GB plans or higher to qualify for free unlimited 5G data.

For postpaid users, switching to a lower plan in the next billing cycle could mitigate the impact of the price hike, depending on their data usage.
