Lingayat cleric in support of Yediyurappa says he must continue as CM

Bangalore: Two prominent religious leaders, who have a large number of followers in the Veerashaiva-Lingayat community, have come out in support of CM BS Yediurappa on July 20 amid the ongoing political turmoil in Karnataka. Shri Shivmurti Sharanaru, saint of Murugha Math, held a press conference in support of the veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader at Chitradurga on July 20.

He said Yediyurappa may belong to Lingayat caste and religion. But he is a leader for all. He is a people leader who treats everyone equally. They have worked equally for the development of people of all castes and religions. Therefore, it is very important that he continues as the CM of Karnataka. He further said that Yediyurappa is a land-linked leader.

Shri Shivmurti Sharanaru further said that Yeddyurappa has made the party stand out. He should not be harassed. We are here to support them and express solidarity with them. If they are removed, the party will suffer. Reports of the changing Karnataka's CM had been doing the job for the past few days, though Yediyurappa had dismissed the speculation.
