LIVE: Monsoon Session second day starts with a storm

As the house prepared itself for the Monsoon Session, hoping a usual quite drizzle before the business gets in order, a storm was set in the Parliament today. The Parliament, on Monday, mourned the loss of lives in terrorist attacks, natural calamities, and the sitting and former members who passed away recently. It was expected that the business will get in order today. On the agenda were the following:

Five bills are expected to be laid on the table in Lok Sabha today: The Requisitioning and Acquisition of Immovable Property (Amendment) Bill, 2017. The Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (Amendment) Bill, 2017. The Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy Bill, 2017. The Indian Institutes of Information Technology (Public-Private Partnership) Bill, 2017. The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Amendment) Bill, 2017. Two bills are expected to be passed in Rajya Sabha: The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2017. The Admiralty (Jurisdiction and Settlement of Maritime Claims) Bill, 2017.

 

The proceedings began with Mayawati  accusing the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh of "dividing the society on the basis of caste and religion." BJP members objected to her but she on to narrate the Saharanpur unrest, where a section of Dalits, she claimed were denied permission to conduct rally to observe Ambedkar Day.
