Lucknow University celebrates its 102nd anniversary today

LUCKNOW: Lucknow University is celebrating its 102nd foundation day on Friday, November 25.

For the event, the university's campus has been decorated with spectacular lighting and flags from its associated colleges in Lucknow and other districts.

In a remarkable gesture, the institution has allowed all of its students access to its museums, allowing them to peruse its extensive and historical collections.

The university students can examine and click on the unique exhibitions on campus, from examining rare manuscripts and paintings by well-known painters Asit Kumar Haldar and Khastigiri to gem and fossil collections in the geology department.

Lucknow University spokesperson Durgesh Srivastava said, "We have opened the gates of all our museums for students and the public on Friday. Anyone can visit the campus on the foundation day and have a look at the extensive collection."

Celebrating outstanding alumni who will be sharing their recollections and success stories with students and teachers in the evening will officially start the celebrations. A lavish cultural evening will also be held at the university.

The event will be live-streamed on all social media platforms and on LU's official YouTube channel in order to ensure that the foundation day celebration is accessible to all of LU's former students, according to Srivastava.

Yogendra Upadhyay, the state's minister of higher education, and Dayashankar Singh, the state's minister of transportation, will attend as special guests, he said.

Justice Rituraj Awasthi, the head of the National Law Commission, New Delhi, Manu Kumar Srivastava (IAS), Shashi Prakash Goyal (IAS), and Jayanti Prasad (IAS) will be among the past students honoured on this occasion.
