Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Parliament House in New Delhi on Tuesday, marking his second meeting with Shah within a week. Yadav described the meeting as a courtesy visit, highlighting his discussions with the Union Minister of Home and Cooperation.
Earlier on June 20, CM Yadav had met both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah in New Delhi. During this meeting, Yadav updated Modi on the progress of two crucial river-linking projects underway in Madhya Pradesh. He specifically invited Modi to inaugurate the Ken-Betwa River linking project and discussed ongoing initiatives to interlink the rivers Parvati, Kalisingh, and Chambal within the state.
In addition to the river projects, Yadav briefed Modi on various welfare schemes being implemented across Madhya Pradesh. This includes initiatives aimed at enhancing public welfare and state development, as detailed in an official press release following the meeting.
Back in Bhopal, CM Yadav chaired a cabinet meeting where significant decisions were approved for the benefit of the public and the state. Addressing the media after the meeting, Yadav emphasized the long-term impact of these decisions, particularly highlighting changes in policies related to financial support for the families of martyrs from security forces. "We have decided to divide the financial assistance from Rs 1 crore equally between the spouse and the parents to prevent any family disputes," he stated.
Before commencing the cabinet meeting, Yadav and his ministers observed a moment to remember the 21-month period of emergency imposed in India on June 25, 1975. They condemned this period, reflecting on its detrimental effects on individuals and families across the country.
State cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, briefing the media after the cabinet session, echoed Yadav's sentiments regarding the Emergency period. "CM Mohan Yadav strongly condemned the atrocities and disruptions caused by the Emergency. Many families suffered greatly during that period, facing imprisonment, financial ruin, and personal losses," Vijayvargiya stated.
Yadav's engagements in New Delhi and the subsequent cabinet decisions underscore his administration's commitment to addressing critical state issues and advancing welfare measures for Madhya Pradesh residents.
