MP: Panchayat elections to be held from this day, dates announced

Bhopal: The dates for the Panchayat elections have been announced in Madhya Pradesh. It is being said that if the situation in Corona is under control, panchayat elections are going to be held in Madhya Pradesh in January and February 2022. The Election Commission has also started preparations for the same.

Giving full details on this, State Election Commissioner Basant Pratap Singh said, "Panchayat elections will be held in three phases. Polling will be held in 9 districts on 6th January 2022, seven districts will be held on 28th January 2022 and the third phase will be held in 36 districts on 16th February. In Madhya Pradesh, 22,695 Gram Panchayats will go to the polls for which 71,398 polling booths will be set up. He further informed that "polling time will be from 7 am to 3 pm. 4 lakh 75 thousand polling personnel will be deployed for this purpose. Voting will be held through ballot paper at the village level, while EVMs will be selected for district and district members.''

He further said, "Madhya Pradesh has more than 3.92 crore voters for panchayat elections. Out of these, 2 crores 2 lakh 30 thousand are male voters while the number of women voters is 190 lakh 20 thousand.''
