9 people arrested for Christian conversion in Jhabua, FIR registered on 10

Jhabua: Nine people have been arrested while trying to convert to religion in the Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh. The action has been taken on the complaint of a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) worker. The case is dated Wednesday (November 10, 2021). The arrest has been made from Manpur village under the Thandala police station area.

According to media reports, 7 of the arrested accused are from Rajasthan and Gujarat. Thandala police SDOP M S Gawli confirmed the arrest. According to him, some outsiders were reported to have come to Manpur village on Wednesday. There was a complaint about them asking the local people to convert to Christianity by luring them. The program was going on at the house of local villager Naru Damore. Police rushed to the spot with some locals after receiving information. The information was found to be correct and a total of 10 persons, including 7 residents of Gujarat, Rajasthan has been registered. Nine accused were arrested from the spot. All of them have been registered under sections of the Madhya Pradesh Anti-Conversion Act. All of them have been sent to jail on Thursday (November 11, 2021) after necessary action.

Earlier on Wednesday, VHP held a press conference in Indore to protest against illegal conversions. VHP General Secretary Milind Parande addressed the media persons. In the press conference, he accused only a few government officials in Jhabua of promoting conversion. The VHP had also demanded strict action against everyone involved in the conversion.
