RATLAM: A pre-school in Madhya Pradesh has faced significant backlash after a video surfaced showing what appeared to be Pakistan’s national flag being used during an Independence Day performance on August 15. The controversy erupted when the video went viral on social media, prompting the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) to stage protests demanding action against the school in Ratlam.
On Wednesday, members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ideological source, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), staged a protest in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. They called for legal action against a local school that used Pakistani flags in a play depicting the Partition during an Independence Day performance. The protestors blocked the Mhow-Neemuch Road as part of their demonstration.
An official has confirmed that an investigation into the incident has been launched. The ABVP's protests included roadblocks and a memorandum submitted to the district collector, which will be forwarded to the police for further investigation. Legal actions will be determined based on the outcome of this investigation, according to District Collector Rajesh Batham.
The video, which quickly spread on social media, captured the attention of ABVP activists. They protested against the pre-school, alleging that the use of the Pakistani flag in the performance was inappropriate and disrespectful.
In response, Deepak Pant, Director of Time Kids Pre-School, clarified that the use of the flag was part of a dramatic representation of India's freedom struggle, including the Partition. Pant explained that the performance aimed to depict historical events, and the viral clip only showed a portion of the drama. He stated that some individuals shared the video without full context.
