MP: Two naxals killed in an encounter between police and Naxalites in Balaghat

Bhopal: An encounter has taken place between police and Naxalites in Kirapur area of Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh. Two Naxalites have died. Let us also tell all of you that there was a landmine blast in the Naxal-affected Sukma district of Chhattisgarh in the past. An assistant commandant of the CENTRAL Reserve Police force was martyred. Let us also tell all of you that inspector General of Police, Bastar region, Sundarraj P. has talked about this incident.

He says, "Naxalites detonated a landmine in a forest close to Tadmetla village under Chintalnar police station area of Sukma district. Nitin P. Bhalerao, Assistant Commandant, 206 Cobra Battalion of CRPF was martyred and seven other Jawans were injured in the incident. Before the incident, police officials had reported the injuries of five Jawans in the incident. At present, Sundarraj said, "CRPF Jawans were rushed to patrolling in Chintalnar area. The Naxals detonated the landmine when the security forces were in the forest of Tadmetla village at around 8:30 pm late Saturday evening. Eight persons including Assistant Commandant Bhalerao were injured in the incident."

He has also said that there is no information about the firing during the incident. Inspector-General of Police in the case says, "Five Jawans were reported injured in the incident on Saturday but three other Jawans were also injured in the incident shortly thereafter." As soon as the incident was reported, the injured Jawans were evacuated from the jungle through helicopters and sent to Raipur for treatment.
