Maharashtra CM Fadnavis's backlash against opposition

Mumbai: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, while addressing a press conference in Nagpur on Saturday, said that the opposition has failed to understand that EVMs are a machine and cannot vote on its own.

He said, "I believe that the Opposition is desperate, hopeless and completely directionless. Maharashtra has never seen such opposition in its history. Fadnavis said that the BJP will fight the upcoming assembly elections in the coming assembly elections in a meeting with its allies. I have told Shiv Sena that under the formula already fixed, we will first decide the seats of the alliance partners and then divide the other seats.

BJP is reaching out to the people and voters, while the opposition is communicating with the EVMs, the CM said. The Opposition is not able to understand that EVMs are only machines and cannot vote on their own. Voters vote and if we communicate with them, we will get votes.

The Maharashtra CM's statement comes at a time when opposition leaders including Maharashtra Congress state president Balasaheb Thorat, MNS chief Raj Thackeray, NCP's Ajit Pawar and Chhagan Bhujbal have described the use of EVMs in the polls and the results of the Lok Sabha elections as shocking.  After the results of the Lok Sabha elections, opposition parties have raised questions over the impartiality of EVMs.
