Mumbai: NCP supremo Sharad Pawar is angry with the BJP after the arrest of former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. He has clearly warned the BJP to pay a heavy price for it. In fact, according to a well-known website, the NCP Chairman issued a statement last Wednesday. In it, he said, "The former Mumbai Police Commissioner is now absconding after false allegations against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. They themselves are not coming forward to prove those allegations. BJP has put Anil Deshmukh in jail. In that case, they will have to pay the price for what BJP has done now''. In fact, he made this statement when he was addressing NCP workers in Nagpur. He also said in his statement, "Who will lead a possible anti-BJP alliance in the next general election? This is not an issue and people need to be given political choices as per their wishes''. Terming the recent violence in Amravati and some other parts of Maharashtra as very unfortunate, he said, "The Government should now formulate a policy in which proper compensation can be given to shopkeepers and traders who are victims of such incidents. A grave "injustice" has happened to former Maharashtra home minister and NCP leader Anil Deshmukh''. Former Home Minister Deshmukh is currently in judicial custody after being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case.
