As per the ritual it is better if you write Ram on the beltpatra with sandalwood and then offer it. * Don't offer Roli on Shivling, sandalwood should be used instead of Roli. * Ketaki and Champa flowers should not be offered on Shivling during the worship of Mahadev (it is believed that both these flowers were cursed by Mahadev). * Shiv Abhishek should be done with water in the morning, with curd and milk in the day and ghee in the evening and honey at night.
