For the first time, the communists praises Gandhi, what is the meaning ?

New Delhi: There is a competition in the country these days about Gandhiji's legacy. Everyone describes himself as a true contender of Gandhi's legacy. The Communist Party, which had once been a bitter critic of Gandhi, has also joined this competition. On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, at the inauguration ceremony of his new office Surjit Bhawan on Rouse Avenue, the CPI (M) leaders were seen for the first time tying the bridge to praise Bapu. For the first time in any CPI (M) function, only two leaders were photographed on the stage.

One picture was of Harkishan Singh Surjeet, the founding member of the CPI (M) and former general secretary, and the other of Mahatma Gandhi. The opening ceremony of the new office was also deliberately kept on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Even in the inaugural address, party general secretary Sitaram Yechury recalled Mahatma Gandhi several times. Yechury said that Gandhi's ideology and his ideals have become even more relevant in today's politics.

Earlier, such a grand ceremony was never held on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti at the AK Gopalan Bhawan, the CPI-M's central office. Till now only the Congress had handled the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, but five years ago Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched a clean India campaign and rejected the BJP's claim on the legacy of the Father of the Nation. Even Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's chief Mohan Bhagwat has praised Bapu. Now the CPI-M is also standing in this line.
