Mahindra Auto reported on Thursday that it sold 29,516 SUVs in August 2022, marking the second consecutive month with its highest monthly SUV sales. Additionally, according to the company, domestic OEM passenger vehicle sales for August 2022 were 29,852 units, including sales of electric vehicles through its subsidiary Mahindra Electric Mobility Ltd. In August 2022, Mahindra sold 15,786 SUVs, a whopping 87 per cent more than in the same month the previous year. SUV sales surged by 68% to 132,790 units between April and August of this year, up from 79,153 vehicles during the same time the previous year. The automaker's overall sales in the passenger vehicle segment rose by 87 per cent last month to 29,852 units from 15,973 units in the same month a year earlier. In addition, Mahindra's overall passenger car sales increased by 67% from April to August of this year. It sold 134,215 PVs during the same time period as opposed to 80,221 units during the same time period last year. Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., commented on the sales success by stating that August was a very exciting month with releases in several segments. “Demand across our portfolio remains strong and is enhanced with blockbuster launches of Scorpio-N, Scorpio Classic and new Bolero MaXX Pik-up. We registered highest ever SUV Volume of 29,516 in August, registering a growth of 87% over August ‘21," he further added. Nakra added that Mahindra is taking the necessary steps to lessen the impact as the supply chain situation for some product lines continues to be dynamic.
