Srinagar: A major accident has been reported in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district. Five persons died and another was injured when an SUV skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge. According to officials, the occupants of the vehicle were on their way to Srinagar from Punjab and the accident took place near Jamoda in Mansar on Saturday. Giving information, officials said that the driver lost control of the car near Jamoda, after which it fell into the ditch. There were six people in the SUV. Rescuers have recovered the bodies of five people, while one person is said to be seriously injured. Station House Officer (SHO) of Samba Deepak Jasrotia said, "The deceased have been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, his wife Zara Begum and their son Mohammad Iqbal and daughter Masrat, while the identity of the sixth person is yet to be ascertained. The driver, Saqib, is badly injured and has been admitted to the hospital.''
