Man shot dead while chasing away wild boar in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: A man was shot dead and another one was injured while hunting a wild boar in Kerala. The guy was found dead in a paddy field in Vandiyambatta near Kambalakkad in this high range area, allegedly in pursuit of a wild boar. According to authorities, the dead has been identified as Jayan (36), a resident of Kottathara.

Sharun, a relative of the deceased, was critically hurt in the gunfire and has been admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. The two were injured in the gunshot while chasing away a wild pig that had wandered into the field.

Only after the autopsy and investigation, Wayanad SP Aravind Sukumar informed that they will have clarity on the situation. According to media sources, on Monday night, a four-member crew led by Jayan and Sharun arrived at a paddy field in Vandiyambatta to drive away wild boars. The two other members who accompanied Jayan and Sharun told reporters that someone else had opened fire, possibly a hunter.
