Mandaviya to chair 'CHINTAN SHIVIR' at Hyderabad, What on Fucus?

Hyderabad: Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare is organizing the Chintan Shivir on "Drugs: Quality regulation and Enforcement" on February 26 and 27. Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will be addressing a two-day meet with a focus on Drug Quality Regulation and Enforcement. 

The venue for this event will be Shanti Vanam, Hyderabad.  This event will feature eminent speakers as well as subject matter experts from the government, business forums, startups, and academia.

The Chintan Shivir will be presided over by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, said a statement released on Saturday. The meeting will also be attended by Dr. V K Paul, Member (Health) NITI Aayog, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Bhagwant Khuba, Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers, and others.

The two-day brainstorming conclave will be attended by senior officials including the Union Secretary (Health), Secretary (AYUSH), Secretary (Pharmaceuticals), DGHS, and representatives from the National Health Authority, NPPA, CDSCO, NIB, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, NIPERs, State functionaries, and officials including the ACS/Principal Secretary. The two-day Chintan Shivir's main goal is to examine how policies and programmes relating to drug enforcement and quality are being implemented throughout the nation.

The meeting will assess predictability, openness, compliance with Indian drug standards, and regulatory capacities across states and the centre, and it will make recommendations for ways to make it easier to conduct business. According to the official release, participants will also talk about international best practises, the introduction of newer interventions like digital tools, clinical trial standards, and how to create a multi-stakeholder approach for the benefit of ordinary individuals.

The following five sessions are scheduled as part of the Chintan Shivir:

 1. Increasing consumer and export market confidence in the high quality of medicines, cosmetics, and medical gadgets

2. Field-level enforcement that is efficient 3. The Indian Pharmacopeia and compliance with its requirements

4. Consistent IT support for all regulatory actions 5. Increasing the capacity of national and state regulators

In addition to interactive sessions with the stakeholders, the conference will feature panel discussions with renowned speakers and professionals from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, NITI Aayog, industry fora, startups, academia, etc. According to the official statement, the workshops are intended to foster brainstorming contact with stakeholders in order to develop a participatory strategy for the time-bound implementation of policies and programmes.
